American Dad Casting

“American Dad” Project Summary: As a 10-minute pilot, it will display the storyline and conflicts among the main characters for the future 6-episode mini-movie series.

MASON
Chinese male; appearing to be around 18 years old; native Mandarin speaker (with Taiwanese accent); speaking basic to intermediate English; introvert and quiet in general, music lover, only revealing his emotions when singing and playing piano.
Audition requirement (online audition or self-tape):
1. Headshot and resume
2. A slate in the video
3. Casting director will assign a scene from the script for you to perform in audition
4. Sing “Yellow” (from Coldplay)
5. Sing a song of your choice (an R&B or lyrical English song is preferred)
6. Play a song with piano of your own choice (optional)
Scope of work: online rehearsal, on-site rehearsal starting from two days before shooting, 5-6 days of shooting
JEROME
Chinese male; appearing to be around 43 years old; native Mandarin speaker (with Taiwanese accent); speaking fluent English; a Pittsburgh college professor; knowledgeable and self-centered; insecure; caring about food choices very much. Having a son who he hasn’t seen for many years, but with no interests in taking the responsibility of being a father.

3. Casting director will assign a scene from the script for you to perform in audition
Scope of work: online rehearsal, on-site rehearsal starting from two days before shooting, 5-6 days of shooting
CRAIG
Chinese male; appearing to be around 27 years old; native English speaker; talented in music; an open gay; Mason’s English teacher at school and an indie rock band lead vocal; good-looking and charismatic; a local LGBTQ movement leader.
Audition requirement (online audition or self-tape):
1. Headshot and resume
2. A slate in the video
3. Casting director will assign a scene from the script for you to perform in audition
4. Sing “Yellow” (from Coldplay)
5. Sing a song of your choice (an R&B or lyrical English song is preferred)
6. Sing a song of your choice with your guitar accompaniment
Scope of work: online rehearsal, on-site rehearsal starting from two days before shooting, 5-6 days of shooting
SARAH
Chinese female; appearing to be around 43 years old; native Mandarin speaker (with northern China accent); strong will and very capable; ; focus on achievement of her life, such as marriage, children and work; the relationship with her husband is entangled at the moment and at the brink of collapse.
